Appearance

The Black Russian Terrier is usually courageous by nature. Their coat is usually dense and hard and never frizzy, silky, wooly or soft. The Black Russian Terrier has an average weight of 121 to 154 pounds. Male black Russian terrier has an average height of 25 to 29 inches whereas female black Russian terrier has an average height of 25 to 28 inches.

Temperament

The Black Russian Terrier is calm, confident, loyal, brave and intelligent by nature. They should be provided proper training or else chances are quite likely that they may develop an aggressive nature. They are extremely affectionate to their owners and have strong bonds with human beings.

Health

The average life span of a Black Russian Terrier is about ten to fourteen years. This breed runs at a higher risk of developing certain diseases such as PRA, elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia.

History

This breed of dog was imported from East Germany. This breed was recognized in the year 1984 by the FCI.

Miscellaneous

This breed of dog performs well in dog sports like Schutzhund and Agility training. Their coat doesn’t shed too much and they should be groomed at least once in a week. You need to provide them ample amount of exercise as they may turn destructive or hyperactive if they don’t burn of their energy.

I have no qualms in recommending the Secrets to Dog Training package to anyone who owns, or is thinking about owning, a dog. You don’t need to have a “problem pet” for the book to be of assistance: there’s information included that can be useful to any and all dog owners.

From personal experience, the only other thing I would do is upgrade to the Secrets to Dog Training premium version because it has an online video series that is excellent as well as software which allows you to keep track of all the necessary and important details about your dog such as medical history, vaccinations, operations, appointments, obedience training, and much more.
