Appearance
The Brittany is compact and well built. It is quite light. It has long legs. They are quite intelligent, alert and active. Their way of walking is, long, elastic & free. Some of them have short tails and some others have long tails. They are available in different colors like orange, liver roan, liver, orange roan and white. Their height usually ranges from 17.5 inches – 20.5 inches at withers. The height of the female and male may vary. The weight of a healthy Brittany should be between 16-19 kg based on the height.
Temperament
This breed of dog is accepted as the hunting dog. This dog can be trained easily. It has a sweet nature and is very sensitive. They are good, both as family dogs and working dogs in a field. This is an agile dog & it needs exercises and space in the room for running. Moreover, its nature of socialization is also commendable. They are also intelligent. If these dogs are not given proper training they can destroy houses and behave unnaturally.
Health
Brittanies are usually hardy and healthy dogs. You should make sure to clean their ears because as air cannot pass or enter, they may get infected. Their normal life span is 14 to 15 years.
History
These breeds of dogs had their origins in Brittany province (France) during 1800s.
